The Approach Team Line (450m, 8a)
Seán wasn’t too upset about getting trapped in Patagonia for over a year due to the COVID pandemic. He kept himself busy by soloing the Moonwalk Traverse and exploring the walls of El Mocho. At the time, the hardest route in the massif already seemed freeable — but success came only four years later, in a team with Florian Delcoigne.
It took the “3 Ps” to make it happen: patience, persistence, and a (spare) pair of socks — because that’s what you use to dry all the wet holds when you need to save some toilet paper. Oh, and our custom-made nutritional masterpiece: freeze-dried Rocky Mountain Oysters.
